Have You Seen This Place?
After getting off of I-25 & Belleview (exit #199), I began looking for Great Northern. Going about .2 of a mile I did go right past this restaurant the first time. It is surrounded by large hotels in the area and the building decor is not what I expected; colors of purple with gold trimmed windows threw me off. Great Northern offers a large parking area, so finding a place to park is no problem. Now come on inside with me and let’s take a look at why locals love this place.
Stepping inside through the large revolving doors it feels as if you were stepping back into time. The Great Northern provides an atmosphere of excitement, with a casual environment. From the hand-crafted Mahogany bar, and mahogany tables, leather booths, large chandeliers, and bold railroad graphics, all capture the feel of the Great Northern Railway.
J.J. Hill was a noted Canadian-American railroad executive. As chief executive officer of a family of lines headed by the Great Northern Railway, which served a substantial area of the Upper Midwest, the northern Great Plains, and Pacific Northwest. J.J. Hill’s grandson founded the Great Northern restaurant in 1998.
“The Great Northern, located in the heart of the Denver Tech Center, echos the journey of the Great Northern Railroad across the upper United States. Their menu reflects the traditional cuisine of these regions through interpretations of beloved trans-continental meals. An excellent wine list not only accompanies, but also accentuates, the menu.”
Once Inside Great Northern.

I began looking around the large dinning room area, in its center are comfortable tables with leather chairs, and along the walls are high-back leather booths.
Each is set with an elegant table settings ready for lunch or dinner.
The decor is a classy railroad car scene out to please the paramount folks traveling aboard the Great Northern Railroad.
The Great Northern’s artistic selection on wine, offers Pinot Noirs and hearty Cabernets, to white wines and Chardonnays.
‘Award of Excellence’ Wine Spectator’s 2009, 2008 & 2007 Offering excellent wines at affordable prices as well as a large assortment of allocated vintages, we are sure you will find something you will love.
Great Northern offers wood-fired smoked flavor on their meats. When I was there, there was a large chicken turning on the rotisserie. Having your meat wood-fired is an awesome flavor, and you get only the best served here. So come on in and take the time to relax and look around at all the cool things here. There is even real railroad rails that make up the foot rest, if you choose to sit at the bar.

There is a lot that Great Northern can offer you, from its classy dinning room to a great service staff, so come out for lunch or dinner, but be sure to check out the award winning selection of wine here and try a bottle for yourself.
