Last Thursday was April 15th – TAX DAY! On Friday the 16th, the Indianapolis Tastecasting Team visited Urban Element in Indianapolis for a little Tax Day hangover relief.
Urban Element is a unique mixture of cozy coffee house vibe and classy restaurant elegance. Urban Element also features a revolving gallery of local artists work. New art is displayed the first Friday of each month.
At our tasting, we were served hummus & pita bread, bruschetta, fries, onion rings, and bar burgers. While all the food was quite tasty, my favorite was a tie between the hummus and the burgers.
The hummus packed a very nice, though subtle enough, punch of heat (from chili’s no doubt).
The burgers were incredibly flavorful and as the area’s burger expert, Dick Davis, shared with us “When I need a burger done RIGHT, @UrbanElementIN never lets me down.”
@ryansawrie was impressed that the bruschetta was made to order to ensure the freshness of the tomatoes.
Several of our tastecasting members, including @tammygoins, @tncreative, and @gregorycross are excited about returning to Urban Element for a great steak for a great price on Wednesday nights, and for some live music!
You can visit Urban Element at 901 North Pennsylvania Street in Indianapolis or at their brand new location at 415 N. Alabama St., also in Indy. Both locations boast a highly praised Sunday brunch for an affordable price!
Also, be sure to check out Urban Element’s facebook page.

Back at the eatery, Adam Zeigler, the eatery manager, started us off with a Carrotopia (a smoothie made with carrot, apple, ginger, pineapple and banana). The color was so vibrant it was hard to believe there were no artificial ingredients at all. The taste was memorable, with just enough ginger to make it a very interesting drink.

TrendyMinds recently hosted a TasteCasting at Au Bon Pain (translated as, “The place of good bread” for those of you who have long since forgotten high school French!). While some of us were already familiar with their fresh and yummy offerings, we were all excited to share our favorite dishes with other and try out some newer menu options.
Even though our TasteCasting was early, we made sure to make room for a chocolate cherry tulip (an amazing combination of gooey chocolate brownie and tart cherry filling), crumb cakes and the classic chocolate chip cookies — moist and chewy perfection!
The Indiana Avenue location was big, bright and cheery and even had a conference room toward the back that can be reserved for meetings, get-togethers and large parties. I think we all came away knowing where we wanted out next company meeting held!

And to top off the event we had a special visit from
